What "property with income" actually means — and why it's rarer than it sounds

Read moreYou can find smallholdings in central Portugal by the hundred. Hillsides, olive terraces, old stone houses with a roof that wants attention. You can find online businesses for sale by the thousand.
What you will not find, almost anywhere, is one person selling both. Because the two only ever end up in the same hands when somebody has actually lived the arrangement — and lived it long enough to know it holds.
We have. Fifteen years of it. The business paid for the house, the house is where the business gets run from, and the reason we are selling them as one thing is that the arrangement is the valuable part. Not the hectares. Not the client list. The fact that they already fit together, and that somebody has already proved it.
This is not a property with a job attached. It is not a business that happens to come with a roof. It is a whole working life, built and tested over fifteen years, being handed over intact.
The business is not tied to Portugal, and it is not tied to the Isle of Man either. It runs online, from wherever there is a decent connection — and there is a fast one at the house. That is not a detail. It is the mechanism the whole thing turns on.
The revenue is recurring. Clients pay by subscription, many of them have done for over a decade, and the money arrives whether we spent the morning at a desk or up a ladder picking fruit. Fifteen years of quiet, unglamorous, word-of-mouth growth built that, and last year it was rebuilt around an AI system that now handles most of the repetitive work.
Which is why the days are as free as they are — and why what we are really handing over is not a workload at all.
Time is money, people say. If that is how you see it, you will price this up and find it wanting.
Time is life. Here the money is already handled — which leaves the only thing that was ever actually scarce.
We are selling this ourselves. No agent, no commission, and no reason to oversell it, so here is the honest version:
If that reads as discouraging, it isn’t meant to. It’s meant to save the time of anyone this isn’t for.
A family with children who want space and a slower pace. A couple starting out who would rather own something outright than rent something small. A semi-retired couple who want enough income to be comfortable without going back to work properly.
The only real requirement is that one of you is comfortable using a computer for ordinary tasks and doesn’t mind the technology side. You do not need to be a developer, an accountant, or a Portuguese speaker — English is widely understood locally, and we will be behind you for two years.
Tell us a little about where you are in the process. If it looks like a fit, we'll talk properly — and if it isn't, we'll say so quickly.
Honest notes on what this life actually costs, and what it's actually like.
